In 1878 in the fictional Donegal town of Ballybeg, Christopher Gore, an Anglo-Irish landlord, lives at The Lodge with his son, David. Both men are in love with their “chatelaine” Margaret. Staying at The Lodge is Christopher’s cousin, Dr. Richard Gore, who performs eugenic experiments on the indigenous Irish population, hoping to demonstrate their inferior place in the natural order. As support for Home Rule resurges in the local community, Dr. Gore’s experiments serve only to ignite an already volatile social movement. The Home Place received its New York premiere at Irish Rep in 2017, with direction from Charlotte Moore.
