The Irish Repertory Theatre and Irish Screen America are proud to present a screening of Stutterer. The film is the tale of a man whose lush inner thoughts are rendered mute by a crippling stutter despite a flourishing online relationship. Communication, like love, is never easy. Following, Niall McKay will moderate a special talkback with Oscar-winning director Benjamin Cleary & producer-director TJ O’Grady-Peyton, with a focus on the process of creating great short films.
Benjamin is an Irish writer/director. In 2011 he completed a screenwriting MA at the London Film School. He chose a screenwriting MA to learn as much as possible about storytelling before beginning to direct. In 2012 he won the BlueCat short screenplay competition in Los Angeles. Two short screenplays of his have been awarded RTE/Filmbase funding. Ben’s animation script The Great Fall was awarded the Irish Film Board Frameworks funding. It tells the story of a young raindrop’s first fall to earth. Stutterer is the first film he has directed.
