ABOUT THE HONOREES
Visionary Leadership Honoree
TOM CASHIN
First-generation Irish American TOM CASHIN has served on the board of Irish Repertory Theatre for nearly a decade–offering stalwart support and leadership. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Tom has led a fascinating life of artistry and service. He is an accomplished Irish step dancer, first taking it up at the age of 10 and recently dancing in Jean Butler’s What We Hold at the age of 70. In the years between, Tom modeled internationally, danced on Broadway, earned a degree in art history, worked at Sotheby’s, flourished in the interior design world, and made a meaningful impact with several non-profit organizations. He is co-director of Jed Johnson Home, a textile company for the interior design industry. For over 15 years, Tom served on the board of Friends In Deed, an impactful organization founded by Mike Nichols and Cynthia O’Neal in response to the AIDS crisis. And today, he chairs the board of Jean Butler’s Our Steps, a non-profit aiming to redefine the way we think about Irish dance in addition to his stewardship on the board of Irish Repertory Theatre.
Artistic Honoree
BARRY McNABB
BARRY McNABB emigrated from Canada with his Irish-born parents in 1961, and 30 years later reconnected with his roots choreographing Hal Prince’s Grandchild of Kings at Irish Repertory Theatre, a home he has cherished for over 30 years. He was also a member of the original Broadway casts of Me and My Girl and The Phantom of the Opera. He was instrumental in the development of Broadway Cares, a fund-raising organization of the theatre community. Currently, he teaches at NYU Tisch Drama New Studio on Broadway. As a director and/or choreographer he has received Drama Desk, Lortel, Barrymore, Connecticut Critics Circle, and Premio (Spain) nominations for his work. As a longstanding company member of Irish Rep, he has choreographed over 40 productions, including Finian’s Rainbow, The Emperor Jones, Meet Me in St. Louis, and Dancing at Lughnasa.
