Irish Repertory Theatre, a year-round producing company located in Chelsea, Manhattan deemed “New York’s finest Off-Broadway theatre” by Terry Teachout of The Wall Street Journal, seeks multiple part-time Front of House/Box Office Associates to join the team as we prepare to reopen our theatres.
Front of House/Box Office Associates will report to the Box Office Manager and Audience Services Manager and will support ticketing and customer service initiatives associated with Irish Rep’s digital and in-person programming. These positions will be cross-trained to be able to work as an usher, concessions salesperson, and box office associate so you will be able to cover any positions needed during a regular performance. This is a mainly in-person position with the possibility of some remote work that requires internet and computer access.
A successful candidate is outgoing and personable, customer-experience minded, detail-oriented, collaborative, tech-savvy, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to ensuring a positive experience for all Irish Rep patrons. Due to the nature of the position, some schedule flexibility is required, including evenings, Mondays, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities:
- Process ticket sales from phone and third-party orders.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints via phone and email.
- Support box office and digital house management team in pre-show hours with link distribution and audience communication for our streaming productions.
- Work with Audience Services Manager to create a streamlined customer experience
- Work with patrons to help them find their seats while working as an usher
- Making sure our patrons receive concessions in a timely manner prior to the start of the performance
- Support Audience Services Manager and onsite COVID Safety Manager with patron traffic flow and communicating and ensuring patron adherence to COVID safety protocols, including mask-wearing, if required.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
An ideal candidate has:
- Previous box office experience
- Excellent computer and phone skills.
- Experience in customer service and/or the performing arts
- The ability to work with the public and possess conflict resolution skills
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook), or Google Suite equivalent
- General knowledge of Spektrix preferred
- Experience as an usher preferred
Front of House/Box Office Associates earn a rate of $20/hour. Hours are flexible and will be assigned on an as-needed basis. Front of House/Box Office Associates may be asked to work 10-15 hours/week during performance weeks.
