Irish Repertory Theatre seeks part-time associates to join the Front of House team. Associates will have ushering and other front-of-house duties, reporting to the Irish Rep Front of House staff, and will serve as the public face of the organization for all ticketholders at our mainstage productions, studio theatre productions, and other events at our theatre located in Chelsea, Manhattan. This is a great part-time position for those looking to be a part of the return of live theater in NYC and for those wishing to learn more about the workings of an Off-Broadway non-profit theatre company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet and greet all patrons entering Irish Rep; check or scan for valid tickets; and verify audience members’ IDs and vaccination authentications.
- Be personal and proactive in aiding all guests with the highest level of customer service, hospitality, and efficiency.
- Assist guests by providing accurate directions to seating sections and restroom facilities within the theater.
- Run our concessions stand, serving small snacks and drinks to patrons and handling payment transactions.
- Retain knowledge of the Irish Rep’s history, staff, and emergency protocols.
- Enforce Irish Rep’s policies and rules.
- Aid the House Manager and Box Office Manager in the event of an unexpected accident or emergency while maintaining poise.
- Perform additional functions and activities as directed by the House Manager.
COVID-19 Requirements:
- All Irish Rep staff members are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Associates may be required to be tested for COVID-19 once per week.
- Associates will be required to wear face masks while on the premises.
- All audience members will be required to wear face masks and show proof of vaccination to enter the theater building.
- Associates will be required to take COVID-19 Safety and De-Escalation training.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to provide excellent customer service and hospitality.
- Must be a team player who is able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with technology for ticket scanning and communication purposes.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Availability to work at least four show shifts per week, even throughout the holiday season.
Compensation:
- The Associate position is a part-time, hourly job, with an hourly rate of $20.00.
